Overview:
In this hyper digital age we are constantly being bombarded by images, whether in print, television, or the internet and social media. Globally there are an estimated 5 billion photographs made every single day, which is an average of 57,000 per second. The average American alone makes at least 20 photos per day. However, as we no doubt know, quantity does not equate to quality… During this 5 week intensive, small group class we’ll explore the fundamentals of digital photography. We’ll delve into what makes an image good, or dare I say Great. And most importantly, we’ll learn practical skills and techniques for making better and more personally expressive and meaningful images regardless of whether we’re using a smartphone or a state of the art professional level dSLR camera. The class will feature five in person sessions utilizing slideshow presentations, hands on practice activities as well as the sharing and feedback of student work made each week during guided independent practice. Yes, there will be assignments… but no grades. The only way to learn and improve as a photographer is by doing photography.
